There are two main types of cover for home contents and house insurance:
- New for old – will reimburse the policyholder in the event of a claim from an insured peril. This will be settled on the basis of the cost of replacement with a new item
- New for old and accidential damage – will reimburse the policyholder in the event of a claim from an insured peril, including accidental damage. This will also be settled on the basis of the cost of replacement with a new item
